~Robin Yukiko~
Biography

Robin Yukiko is an American singer-songwriter living in San Francisco. With a versatile soprano voice and piano style, her music is quirky, complex, and bold--and unpredictable. Drawing inspiration from any source she can find, she writes about the human mind and heart, war, time and space.

Growing up in Orlando, Florida, Robin made her singing debut at the age of three and started writing songs at 14 with the aid of her father, a professional musician, who taught her music theory and piano.

"Every day my dad would pick me up from school and start drilling me on rhythms and intervals. It was our best bonding time. And to top it off, I was able to skip three years of ear training classes."

She has performed as an opera singer, a jazz singer, and a rock musician in venues from coffee shops to Carnegie Hall (1996).  At 18, she released her first album Me and My Apathy, and has continued to develop her songwriting and performing skills both with a band and solo. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2006, Robin moved to Japan to discover her ancestry and tap into the music scene.

In 2007, Robin received Honourable Mention for her piano pop song, "Fool Who Left", in the We Are Listening Singer/Songwriter Awards. That same year, Robin represented her country at the International Counter Match of the World Figure Skating Championships (USA vs. Japan) by singing the Star Spangled Banner alongside pop singer Ayaka Hirahara, who represented Japan. Sponsored by Nichion, Inc, the national anthem was broadcast throughout Japan on TBS.

Having lived in Japan for 2.5 years, Robin has now returned to the United States and is currently recording her second album, Love War, which is now available for PRE-ORDER. In addition to her original music, Robin regularly sings with the local pop/rock band, The Shebangs.

Robin Yukiko is a supporter of marriage equality, spaying and neutering of pets, and awareness of mental disabilities.
